Hi all!
It’s March. Already. This year has simultaneously felt like 5 minutes and 5 years. 5 centuries? 5 lightyears? (And yes, I know that this is a measure of distance but I’m doing this thing this year where I don’t give a fuck so 🤙 Suck on that Neil Degrasse Tyson. But don’t actually because you’re awesome. If you’re reading this and single, I’d also love to take you out on a date. Dave and Busters sound good to you?)
So yes, anyways, ^^that’s where I’m at. I’m going to force an incredibly awkward segue into today’s Sunday Slice suggestions, so I will do that here: If you would like to experience my current insanity in person (which you should, because it’s pretty fun) then come with me and join in some of the following ways to help each other and get engaged.

Community Resource- WAISN Training (Virtual)
ICE fucking sucks. They can also be extremely intimidating, and show up when and where you’re least expecting. If you want to feel more secure in knowing your rights and how to best handle the intense stress of an ICE raid, I highly recommend you check out this opportunity.
WAISN (Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network) is hosting another ‘Know Your Rights’ training session this upcoming week on Wednesday, March 5th at 6:00 PM PST. In it, they will cover the following topics and address how we can protect ourselves and others from and during raids:
- Do you know what to do if ICE comes to your home?
- Do you know what to do if ICE comes to your workplace?
- What does a judicial warrant look like?
- Can ICE enter your home?
It’s free to join, and the registration link (and more information) is here. Even if you don’t plan on attending, PLEASE SHARE. Someone you know may need to know this information.

Show Up- Stand Up For Science 2025
If you’re here, you believe in science. Right? (I really hope so. And I mean actual science, not fucking GOOP). I’m taking it you’re pretty incensed and scared at the recent onslaught of actions targeting American research institutions and erosion of scientific integrity. Well, here’s a way to show up. Stand Up for Science 2025 is a grassroots org with three main policy goals. They are organizing a nationwide protest this upcoming Friday (3/7) in several cities. Check out this map showing exactly where planned protests are slated to happen.
If you attend: BE SAFE. Wear a mask. I highly recommend communicating with anyone you plan on going with via an encrypted messaging app like Signal. Stand Up for Science also provides some really helpful general protest safety tips here.

Volunteer and Community Building- Seattle Community Fridge (Seattle and Burien)
So I’ve mentioned SCF for a few weeks now- I recently got to know some of the current team members and they’re amazing people!
This upcoming Saturday (3/8) I’ll be picking up food from a local food bank to distribute at a few fridges across Seattle. Feel free to come with! It’s a great way to meet community members, while also helping provide free food for our neighbors (and you get to hang with me teeheehee). I’ll also be doing similar runs every first Saturday of the month- if you’re ever interested in joining, please let me know!
As a reminder, SCF is hosting a new member orientation on Saturday, 3/15 at noon. I will not be able to attend, but if you’re interested please go! I can’t stress enough how great these folks are. RSVP by filling out their volunteer form here
And finally, call your GODDAMN REPS. YOUR HOUSE REP. YOUR SENATORS. YOUR GOVERNOR. YOUR MOM (I just added that one in to see who’s actually reading this.) It’s a great way to get out your blinding internal rage in a constructive way.
Anywhooooo I hope you are enjoying the beautiful beginnings of spring. Get out, touch some grass, smoke some grass, shake some ass. Or however the saying goes. I will definitely be doing all three.
Toodles whores!
